Preserve knowledge. Strengthen communities.
CivArk exists to make practical knowledge more accessible and to help people keep it usable across generations and disruptions.
A shared foundation
Self-reliance grows stronger when people can cooperate. CivArk connects individual preparation with community coordination, practical skills, stewardship and preserving the knowledge needed to maintain and rebuild essential systems.
This edition contains 1,000 articles, 100 working calculators, a device-local readiness checklist, editable planning templates and downloadable offline copies. It runs without an account and does not depend on a remote calculation service.
Sources and editorial policy
Standalone articles. Every article contains at least 500 words of body text, with section headings to make it easier to read, print and revisit. Introductions, navigation, references and the site disclaimer do not count toward that minimum. Closely related guides may share relevant explanations so each can be used on its own.
Review status. These educational guides have not received independent professional review. Practical examples illustrate planning choices; they do not establish that a particular approach is safe or adequate for every household or community. Where further reading is listed, the linked organizations do not endorse CivArk or validate every statement on the page.
Calculators. Each tool shows its formula, units and assumptions. Defaults illustrate the calculation; they are not a universal requirement or personalized recommendation. Results cannot certify safety, adequacy, structural soundness or health outcomes.
Use information responsibly
Look for the source and edition, compare important claims with current authoritative guidance, and involve qualified people before acting on safety-critical information. Local conditions, regulations, equipment and individual needs differ. Follow official emergency instructions over background material on this site.
Preserving and improving this library
Keep a record of corrections, source updates and practical lessons. When preparing a revised edition, retain provenance, check every link and calculation, mark review status honestly, and test an offline copy. Teach someone else how to maintain the archive so it can outlast any one organizer.
