Inventory spot-check sample size
Estimate a random sample size to have a chosen chance of finding at least one error.
How it is calculated
Sample count = round up[ln(1 − desired detection probability) ÷ ln(1 − assumed error probability)]. Effort = count × minutes per item ÷ 60.
Assumptions & limits
Uses independent draws or a large inventory approximation. It estimates detection of at least one error, not the error rate or proof that inventory is correct. If the sample exceeds inventory size, inspect all items. Defaults are illustrative planning inputs, not recommended minimums or a guarantee of safety.
